After the success of the first edition, whose participants were more than 40.000 citizens, from April 13 to April 17 2011, Biennale Democrazia is back to Turin. The cultural event, chaired by Gustavo Zagrebelsky and realized thanks to Turin City on the occasion of the celebrations for the 150th anniversary of Italian Unidification.
Biennale Democrazia 2011 is taking to Turin, over five days, the main characters of the national and international cultural and political debate, in a public laboratory, whose main issue for this edition is All. Many. Few. Meetings, lessons, debates, readings and shows to explore the relationship between the power of all, the maximal ideal for a democracy, and the powers of a few: the lobbies of power, knowledge and belongings. A great attention will be paid to debates about minorities and movements, to environmental sustainability, to Italy and its 150 years and to the Great Ampio spazio è dedicato anche al confronto su minoranze e movimenti, alla sostenibilità ambientale, all’Italia, nel suo 150° compleanno, e ai Great Speeches of Democracy, from Demosthenes to Obama. As well as a new and well-structured partacipated-democracy experience about an issue of great interest: federalism. Which federalism for Italy? is the title of a discussion, also available on the web, involving since December citizens from Turin, Florence, Milan and Lamezia Terme.
