Price: 23€ - 80€
Informations:

The Regio Theatre will join the celebrations by putting up in March four operas by Giuseppe Verdi: a new staging of The Sicilian Vespers, created by Davide Livermore under the direction of Gianandrea Noseda; Nabucco, c’era una volta la figlia di un re, a new version created for the public of La Scuola all’Opera; moreover, Rigoletto and La traviata. The Theatre realized and curated the settings of the Great Hall of the Senate at Palazzo Madama.

Teatro Regio has planned its 2010-2011 season in the name of Giuseppe Verdi, master of our cultural unification. This series of events has been purposely conceived on the occasion which sees Turin as the core of celebrations for the 150th anniversary of Italian Unification. From the 16th to the 29th of March – after the perfomance of March 18th dedicated to the opening of celebrations and live broadcast by Rai5 and Radio3 – the new staging of The Sicilian Vespers, created by Davide Livermore with the support of the set designer Santi Cineo and the costume designer Giusi Giustino will be put up. This opera, which was the first to be put up under the direction of Maria Callas in 1973 after the rebuilding of the theatre, will be directed by maestro Gianandrea Noseda. On March 25, a new symbolic opera by Verdi, Nabucco, c’era una volta la figlia di un re (Nabucco, once upon a time there was a king’s daughter), will be performed in a new production realized with the support of As.Li.Co. and conceived for the public of La Scuola all’Opera, an education activity that Teatro Regio has been dedicating for 20 years to the young people. The staging is intended to be the dramatic adaptation of Nabucco, and young people are going to play the main characters, by singing some choruses they have learned throughout the school year. Between April and May, two other operas by Verdi will be put up. Rigoletto, on stage frome April 12 to May 8, directed by Fabio Banfo, with the settings by Luca Ghirardoso and the costumes by Valentina Caspani, the winner team of the contest launched by the Regio La Creatività all’Opera; the director of the orchestra is Patrick Fournillier. From April 22 to May 7, La traviata will close the Verdi cycle, with a staging directed by Laurent Pelly; on the music stand Patrick Fournillier.

Teatro Regio had to pleasure to participate to the realization of the Great Hall of the Senate at Palazzo Madama, by offering the skills of its labs and its great craftsmen. The great structure has been rebuilt on the basis of 19th century iconographic sources, by a technique which is practically unchanged compared to that of 150 years ago, when precisely the designers of Teatro Regio realized the first Senate of Italy.
