GATHERINGS OF ESPERIENZA ITALIA
Italy’s first capital, which had a fundamental role also in developing Italy’s military tradition, will also be hosting the main military parades for the 150th celebrations.
In the spring, Turin will also be welcoming the main National Parades and Meetings of the Associations of the Armed Forces, as happened in Italia ’61 when 250,000 discharged military personnel marched through the city streets.
The first scheduled will be the Granatieri di Sardegna (Grenadiers of Sardinia) on 15 to 17 April, followed by the Alpini – traditionally the most numerous – from 6 to 8 May. Then it will be the turn of the Air Force, historically connected with Turin because it was here that the Italian Aeronautical Industry started out, taking place on 10 to 12 June. From 17 to 19 June there will be the 59th National Meeting of the Bersaglieri, an infantry corps that was created in Turin in 1836 by the suggestion of General Alessandro Ferrero Della Marmora. After this there will be the gathering of the Arma di Cavalleria (Cavalry) which will be parading on 26 June with the Associazione d’Arma del Piemonte, and lastly, on 10 and 11 September, it will be the turn of the Fire Brigades.
