WI-MU, The Wine Museum in Barolo
Barolo was born in the vineyards of the province of Cuneo, more than two centuries ago: the official wine of the Royal house during the 19th century has become today the «King of wines», one of the most famous ambassadors of “made in Italy” in the world.
The WiMu, whose main aim is to celebrate this noble nectar, is the innovative museum of wine, located within the Castle of Falletti di Barolo, in the surroundings of Cuneo.
Created by the genius of François Confino, author of several museum exhibits, such as the Cinema Museum and the Automobile Museum in Turin, is a journey of our five senses through the making, the culture and the tradition of wine. The WiMu is intended to offer a funny supplement to those who visit – within a few kilometers in this area – wineries and producers, located in some beautiful medieval castles. The visit path of WiMu is a celebration of wine in 25 halls and five floors.
The WiMu is also a tribute to the history of Marquis Falletti’s Castle and to the famous characters who lived there: the Marquis Carlo Tancredi Falletti and his wife, the Marquise Juliette Colbert, also known as Giulia di Barolo, and the hero Silvio Pellico, one of the greatest characters of Italian Risorgimento, who was librarian here and whose studio is still preserved.
