SPORT EVENTS OF ESPERIENZA ITALIA
During the year, highly popular and prestigious sports events are due to take place in Piedmont. It will kick off with the race that perhaps best represents this country: the Giro d’Italia of cycling. This historical race, which had its first centennial in 2009, has chosen the first capital for its starting point, symbolically recalling that the difficult path to a united Italy began here.
In 2011, Turin will be hosting some important international competitions. These are sports where Italian participants have always achieved great successes: the European Diving Championships in March, the Women’s Foil World Cup also in March, and the Archery World Championships in July. Also junior sport uses Turin as its base for important competitions like the National University Championships and the Trophy of Regions of Basketball.
Beneath Turin’s ‘Mole’ there will be significant sports events for the disabled, including the Archery World Championships, and unusual competitions such as the Twirling European Championship, the World Dance Games and the World Cup of Wakeboard.

From June, 25 to June, 26, Turin is becoming the capital city of athletics thanks to the National Championships, that will be played at Stadio Nebiolo (Parco Ruffini). |
From July, 3 to July, 17 2011, the municipalities of Nichelino and Turin are housing the World Archery Championship, valid also as single trial for the qualifying rounds to London 2012 Olympic Games. |

More than 700 athletes are expected to arrive in Turin for the European Twirling Championship, from the 4th to the 11th of July 2011, at Pala Ruffini. |
