Museo dell'Automobile Carlo Biscaretti di Ruffia

The Automobile Museum houses a unique collection in Europe and in 2005 radical restoration works were initiated. The Architect Cino Zucchi, Recchi Engineering srl and Proger spa are in charge of the restoration plans and works; the well-known stage-designer François Confino – who conceived the Cinema Museum – has been appointed to attend to the museum’s new arrangement. The goal is to turn the Museum from a place for specialists only into an appealing place for the widest possible public.

The intervention will increase the exhibition and services area, from its current 11,000 square metres to 19,000 square metres. The new arrangement will tell, through the car evolution (transformed from a means of transportation into a cult object), the epochal steps of Italian society, through sceneries and special effects which will “stage” the cars with respect to the great events of each period.
The Museum will integrate the exhibit function with other functions (leisure, entertainment and cultural deepening: a new library and a bookshop, a meeting place in a courtyard surrounded by glass walls, a restaurant with a terrace directly connected to the auditorium, that has been completely restored, so that the public will be able to make use of these services without necessarily crossing the exhibition halls.
